It’s finally here. After a drawn-out lockout, a last minute deal, rushed training camps, an eventful regular season and a thrilling postseason, Super Bowl XLVI is upon us. On Sunday at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis the NFL’s elite will be decided. After breaking down the Patriots and Giants individually (as well as the Prop Bets), it’s time to actually analyze how this game is going to play out.

Hey, here is a way to make Tim Tebow irrevelant. Score so many points, that you take away his strength, the running game, and force him to pass, which is iffy at best. Watching Tim Tebow pass is watching a dentist pull a tooth. It's painful. Sometimes he throws a nice pass, other times, it looks like a bird falling to earth. Today, most of his passes were futile. Tom Brady of the Pats made sure of that as New England routed the upstart Broncos, 45-10. There was no 4th quarter heroics for Tebow. There was hardly any thing significant Denver did, because they were trailing 21-7, and all off a sudden, its 35-7 before the half, and game over.

There was a time when John Elway, the great QB for the Denver Broncos could make a Bears fan feel anxious about coming into Denver. Now, a rather wild hot streak with Tim Tebow calling the signals, has Denver tied atop the AFC West, and in playoff consideration. Just a few weeks ago, the Bears were sitting pretty after a win that got them to 7-3 for the year. But a broken thumb to QB Jay Cutler and a sprained knee to starting back Matt Forte, has sidelined both players, Cutler most likely out for the season.

The Chicago Bears lost a game and perhaps their start running back, Matt Forte, to a knee injury that took him out most of the game. Caleb Hanie, had a good drive going, late in the game, and Roy Williams couldn't control the ball at the goalline, where a Chief's defender caught it before the ball hit the ground. Heck, the Chiefs scored a TD on a desperate hail-mary pass that went through Brian Urlacher's hands before the first half-ended.

There is something in the Bears' DNA that does not allow them to pay a quality player like Matt Forte. This has gone on since George Halas owned the team. He was tight with the bucks. Now, years later, nothing of significance has changed.

The Chicago White Sox are in one of their funks, on a losing streak and appear to be headed for a loss in Kansas City tonight. Unless they can score 2 runs to tie the game. This team is playing out the schedule. The starting pitchers are getting roughed up and the guys aren't hitting the ball The power quotient on this squad is pretty tepid. Paul Konerko has one homer in like 85 at bats. Of course that blast was a GS to ice a win. If there was an award for not scoring runs with two outs, the Sox would win it.

The Big question marks for the Bears are on offense. Can the O-line hold up and protect Cutler. They were as porous as a flooding river in Vermont last season. They did get better in the second half, and managed to protect Cutler much more efficiently down the stretch. It is hard to believe that a makeshift line got them to the NFC title game. Well, the Bears will have guys in new positions this year. The Bears will have a new left tackle and will start rookie Chris Carini at RT. Look for Earl Bennett to have a break-out year for the Bears. He and Cutler played together at Vanderbilt and now they have had some time to get a rhythm going. Look for Johnny Knox to out-duel Roy Williams for the starting wide receiver spot.

The Chicago Bears answered the bell on Sunday in Soldier Field in their playoff game against the Seahawks.
There was no fooling around, no starts and sputters, no mistakes. The Bears struck on Jay Cutler's first playoff pass, a beautifully thrown ball to Greg Olsen who scampered 58 yards to pay dirt, 3 minutes into the game. The Bears were off and running and scored 4 TD's to go ahead 28-0, when they relaxed.

Sometimes, The Chicago Bears can do something well. They have solid defense, and have a special punt returner in Devin Hester, who scored again on a 65 yard burst to break the NFL record. Jay Cutler threw for 3 scores and the Bears looked like Monsters of the Midway again. Chicago goes to 10-4 a 40-14 victory over their NFC North rivals, the Vikings.

Well, the Bears (8-3) are sitting pretty atop the NFC North, a game ahead of Green Bay at 7-4.
One can safely say that this season, they are playoff contenders, not pretenders. The Bears don't have the prettiest of teams. They don't overwhelm you. They have found a winning combination in team defense, a good running game, great special teams, and some good passing from Jay Cutler. Cutler is finding his role. He is not going to carry this team. He is turning into a Jm McMahon type player. A guy who can make the big throws, a guy who is learning what it takes to win. McMahon would find a way to beat you. His inner fire and determination were big. If Cutler can increase his to match his throwing ability, watch out NFL!

The Chicago Bears won 31-26 over the Michael Vick led Philadelphia Eagles and served notice that they are better than decent team. For me, that's saying alot. The Bears can play well and today they did. They made the big plays, got chunks of yardagage, had a ten minute drive in the third quarter, keeping Vick and the Eagles offense on the bench.

Big Daddy can’t Carolina off his mind, can you? The Saints pummeled the Panthers so hard Sunday afternoon, Bank of America Stadium looked more like a church service instead of a football game. Carolina’s ineptness gives disgruntled fans in Western New York hope, because John Fox’s squad has wrestled the stigma of being the NFL’s worst team from Buffalo. Coach Sean Payton showed mercy on the lowly bunch by running up the score on the under-skilled bunch. Kansas City Head Coach Todd Haley must have appreciated the gesture, noticing how he reacted when Denver coach Josh McDaniels hung 49 points on the Chiefs. Is there a better way to enter the bye week than rolling into it with a 30-point blowout win? Big Daddy doesn’t think so, unless Remy Ayodele and the defense decide to party too hard during the break. In this edition of the

The Chicago Bears beat Miami 16-0, for it's third win in a row and propelled them to a 7-3 record.
The Bears sit atop the Divison leading Green Bay by a half game. This is getting pretty heady for Bears fans. The team is taking advantage of breaks. The Dolphins started their third string QB, Tyler Thigpin and their best receiver, Brandon Marshall, went out of the game with a leg injury. So, the Bears stopped the rush and the pass, and shut-out hapless Miami on their turf.

What emotion described your mood after Sunday’s Superdome debacle? Did you feel disappointed, humiliated, angry, or betrayed? Big Daddy felt so humiliated by the Saints half-hearted effort. Only Brett Farve understood Saints fans embarrassment after his wood-stroking photos surfaced on the internet. Several of Big Daddy’s co-workers revisited the Madden Curse theory, citing Drew Brees’ God-awful performance in which 2 of his 4 interceptions resulted in pick-sixes. Others wondered if Cleveland Head Coach Eric Mangini instructed former Saints Scott Fujita and Mike Bell (two integral pieces to last year’s Super Bowl Championship team) to hire a Voodoo priestess to cast an Early Halloween spell on Drew. One thing is certain, the Browns’ coach unleashed his bag of tricks on the Crescent City, soundly out coaching Sean Payton all afternoon. Saints fans can only pray that the Black ’n’ Gold will collect tons of treats come Halloween night when Pittsburgh comes to town. In this edition of the

The race is often the insiders vs. the handicappers. Whether the winners are those who dine with trainers and jockeys, or those who read racing forms. The insiders. at least in Kentucky, have always had a self righteous and hypocritical animosity towards those who read forms and did math. There are others who were always doomed, those who were outsiders and didn't know it, those who listened to "hot tips."

Are Big Daddy’s readers loving road-trips to Florida yet? The Saints continued their Sunshine State dominance Sunday afternoon, turning Big Daddy’s memorable birthday weekend into an unforgettable one by pummeling Tampa Bay. Big Daddy’s co-workers were all smiles at the rock on Monday after the Black ’n’ Gold served notice to the pro football world that they are ready to defend last February’s Lombardi trophy. The resounding win ignited the spirit of the Who Dat Nation as they celebrated Big Easy style deep into the night, reveling in the fact that the Saints appeared to get their swagger back and are now well-positioned in the wacky NFC standings. Somber was the way to describe Big Daddy’s workplace Monday morning. The Saints’ disheartening display in the desert produced a lot of frowns and slumped heads in the break room, all pondering what’s wrong with their Black ’n’ Gold idols. Job duties were pushed to the back burner as co-workers threw out theories trying to decipher how New Orleans went from a “We’re gonna kick your ass!” mentality last season to the “It’s hard to win in this league,” excuse we keep hearing this year. Supersticious colleagues believe the Madden Curse is affecting the Saints because of Drew Brees is on the cover of Madden 11. In recent years Dante Culpepper, Michael Vick, Troy Palomalo, and Shaun Alexander dealt with a myriad of problems after having the honor bestowed on them. Big Daddy hopes that won’t be the case for Drew. In this edition of the

Fats Domino’s “Blue Monday” set the mood on the morning after Garrett Hartley’s horrid overtime duck hook. Big Daddy’s co-workers spent hours around the water cooler displaying fantastic armchair quarterbacking skills, and the brain-trust second guessed miscues that contributed to the Saints demise Sunday. Evidently, domination in the trenches disguises any ill-effects of “Dirty Birds” with broken wings. At least Saints fans have no problem questioning their team’s mistakes, unlike gullible LSU fans who praise Head Coach Les Miles Wednesday call-in show. Have you ever listened to that WWL radio show? If you’ve never heard sunshine being blown up someone’s ass, prepare to be awed by tuning in on hump day. Considering LSU’s pathetic offense, the positive feedback Les Miles receives either comes from paid actors, or the radio station only allows Miles’ closest friends and relatives to call the show. Incessantly patting him on the back and saying, “ you’re doing a great job— don’t change a thing,” seems like more BS than BP’s current ad campaign telling us how concerned they are about Gulf Coast recovery. The Chicago Bears defeated the Green Bay Packers 20-17 at Soldier Field and yes, the Bears are 3-0 this season.
The Bears won because unlike Green Bay, they didn't make 17 penalties, and Devin Hester's brilliant punt return in the 4th quarter was as good as a Jay Cutler bomb. Hester flat out outran the Green Bay defenders on his way to a 62 yard score which electrified the Bears' faithful. We've been waiting for Hester to pull one off and he did it.

How many folks recall 49er dominance back in the NFC West days? From 1980-1998 San Francisco compiled a 28-9 record against the Saints. Countless times throughout that era either Joe Montana or Steve Young ripped out the hearts of Saints fans with their poised 11th hour heroics, winning those crucial division battles when the Saints seemingly outplayed them every time. Even though the Saints played less than their best Monday night, Garrett Hartley’s buzzer-beating, partially blocked flutter-ball kick sailed through the uprights aided by strong Candlestick Park winds, as the reigning World Champs crushed Bay Area residents’ hopes of a much needed National TV win. Isn’t payback a bitch? Big Daddy will never forget how bitter losses to the hated 49ers made work the next day impossible to deal with; however, Tuesday morning at the rock pile felt like a picnic in the Garden of Eden. The only thing missing was Eve serving chilled apples for desert. Week one of the NFL season is behind us, and for New York Giants fans there were a lot of positives. The Giants defeated the Carolina Panthers in their first ever game at the New Meadowlands Stadium, 31-18. Wide receiver Hakeem Nicks caught three touchdowns from quarterback Eli Manning. Aside from a few drops and tipped balls that led to interceptions, the Giants passing game looked impressive. They struggled mightily to run the ball in the first half, going to the break with -2 yards on the ground. The Giants were able to run more in the second half, and running backs Ahmad Bradshaw and Brandon Jacobs both enjoyed 20+ yard runs. Bradshaw scored the final Giants touchdown on the ground, one that essentially put the game away.

Crass vs. Cherns
Is there a more anticipated match up than this one? A replay of last yer's title contest. These two bitter rivals have been spitting venom back and forth that reminds some of us of The Rock back in his glory WWF days. The Mouth is coming off of a big scoring week in which he claims he left some points out on the field and vows that won't happen this week. Crass, on the other hand, started off the season with a shocking 104-120 loss to The Senior Citizen. The Mark Ingram injury really may be unsettling to Crass all year long, personally, I'm not sure he's ready to make it without him. Cherns already submitted his line up for the week, and it features high scorers like Taylor Potts, Kendall Hunter and Daniel Thomas. We figure to see LaMichael James this week and the Florida Gators defense is almost always a great play. Cherns seems to take advantage of weak opponents in the early part of the season, and to be honest.. I don't see that changing this week. Crass hasn't revealed a line up yet causing some to think he's playing head games with Cherns.

Poor execution by the Saints Thursday night hampered any chances to steal a Music City victory long before Chase Daniel’s bad decision that ended the game. Saints players committed too many undisciplined penalties. By the way, how racist is the end of the video? Wow, nice job, WWF. You let a guy do the spreadsheet for the entire league, and a great spreadsheet it is.. and the next thing you know he's trying to power himself into position to run the entire league. Along with a senior citizen in our league we also have the great unknown from Minnesota.. I think. Allegedly, he's a lawyer and that's all I know about him. Only one other league member has ever met the guy, but I know for a fact.. A FACT that the spreadsheet master happens to not like the guy. Despite, the fact, we don't even know if he exists. Could this be him? How do I know this? Because one time the Great Unkown scored some silly amount of points in a week and declared himself #1 in the league despite being like 1-3 at the time. This got a few other league members riled up and ever since that time.. there has been some tension.

We do have a senior citizen in the football league; he's well into his 30's.. been married for years. Even has himself a couple of children and chronic back problems. That's what happens when you get old. Years ago, he used to be a one man band, but he's developed a sense of team over the last season. He was 6-7 last year, but he was knocking on the door to a much bigger season.

The Chicago Bears are 0-3 this pre-season. Not that a record in pre-season means the regular season, but since they have not played well in the pre-season, one can make some assumptions: The Bears will likely have a sub.500 season.

Last year saw the defending champ put together one of the most impressive seasons we've seen in the history of our young league, 12-2 and the title belt. He wasn't shy about the title either bantering all year long, running his mouth like his lips don't fit. He wasn't any different this offseason getting more outspoken in emails and trying to stall the league draft for days. Why? Because he's the defending league champion and some owners are quietly talking behind his back about how it's quickly gone to his head. Others outside the league have also noticed the change and have started calling him Lane Kifflin. Regardless of how others feel about him, he is the champion until January this year and has a chance to repeat.. maybe.

T-Razzie Dazzie had a chance years back to field a monster line up, but for whatever reason.. he just can't keep his team healthy and focused. Sometimes, they're a tad soft.. sometimes a bit unlucky and at other times.. T-Raz can't put his foot down and control the locker room, apparently, they don't listen to him as well as his girlfriend does; he's having a hard time handling that. 8-6 was the record last year, but it was a disappointing season considering he had Sam Bradford and ended the season with Tim Tebow. Could this year.. finally be the year he puts it all together?

Scuba takes over for a depleted roster inherited from the Big Mattbowski. Mattbowski didn't leave much in the will, in fact, some people think that it's like having a long lost relative die and hoping there is something for you in the will.. only to find out that you're left with debt. Well, at least one team Beat L.A.
Manny, welcome back buddy. I know plenty of fans cheered you, and plenty booed you. I just laughed at you, like I always laugh when I think about you playing left field with a water bottle in your back pocket. Or when you disappeared into the Monster because you apparently drank too much water and couldn't wait. Well, when nature calls... Anyway, I laughed when you slid for a fly ball, missed it, and proceeded to roll on the field until the ball was actually trapped underneath you. Normally I'd be mad at you for embarassing the Red Sox franchise with such ridiculous behavior... but it was part of your play style, and so really you just embarassed yourself, and I laughed. In fact, while remembering all your Manny being Manny moments, I laughed so hard that I had an epiphany of sorts. See, in Boston, we want to win. If we don't win, it better not be from lack of effort. Sacrifice your body. Leave it all on the field... all those cliches. Manny didn't believe in any of that. He worked hard at what he considered his craft, hitting the ball. Fielding the ball was not a priority. Running the bases was not necessarily his forte. No, Manny being Manny was Monster shot homeruns as much as it was RBI producing doubles. We cheered all that. We laughed at his antics. We booed his lack of hustle on the base path. If anything, Manny was the most complete and well-rounded character the Sox have ever sent to the plate. He had his strengths and his foils. Fans booed Manny because of how he left Boston. Why? He didn't want to be here any more. We sure as hell don't want players who don't want to be here. If anything, I'm glad he knew to leave when he did. Look at him now. Ortiz has more home runs, and he started the season batting around .200.

When you work at Keeneland, it doesn't seem like it takes long til Derby arrives.
First, the Oaks day. I'm not keen on Oaks-Derby Doubles. Doubles and pick Threes are for those who rely on dumb luck. Since one juiced up hot tip can beat you out of any win, it involves more luck for pick threes and doubles, and more handicapping for trifectas and superfectas.

I feel guiting guilty, because I didn't give a lot of great tips over the Keeneland meet, yet still won big, patiently waiting for the big overlays. A huge payoff and exacta on Wednesday, along with an incredible payoff for the feature race on the final day, which involved the two top class runners (the winner running second in the same race last year miraculously went off at 7-1 against a lesser field) and the third place finisher at overlay odds after showing some of the best forward moves at Tampa. I boxed them in the trifecta and had them on top of the other 2 major contenders to hit the superfecta, and filled out the IRS forms for both.

Now for the spot play for Saturday.
Keeneland has been running horribly off form and not paying the prices for it. This means too much interaction between backside people against the public, so I have found greener pastures at other tracks. For instance, Friday at Gulfstream, the ninth race couldn't have run much truer to form, yet a dead heat for fourth produced two superfectas that paid over $100 for a ten cent bet (payoff odds of over 1000-1)

Big Daddy barely felt the Saints’ third bye week blow by thanks to Bobby Hebert honoring the Buddy “D” promise: to wear a dress if the Saints ever made it to the Super Bowl. Big Daddy wonders if seeing all those guys in dresses compelled the U.S. military to ponder abolishing their “don’t ask— don’t tell policy.”

A few years back Mike Martz was hailed as the new genius in offense. St. Louis had Kurt Warner and fleet receivers and won a Super Bowl. But that seems a long time ago. The Bears just need someone to help QB Jay Cutler to keep his sanity, not get injured, and throw more touchdowns than interceptions. Especially less interceptions.

This year’s Pro Bowl has sparked more controversy and debate than any Pro Bowl in history. For one, the game is not being played in Hawaii. This year it has been moved to the Super Bowl site in Miami. The game is also being played the week before the Super Bowl which eliminates any of the Super Bowl participants from the game. This year has also seen an astounding number of opt-outs for the Pro Bowl which has resulted in an astounding number of Pro Bowl alternates. Some of the positions are going as far as seven deep. To give you an idea of how ridiculous this situation has gotten,

Last Saturday and Sunday, America watched eight teams battle through Round 1 of the NFL playoffs. The four wildcard winners earned the right to travel to the hostile environments of the teams who garnered the best records throughout pro football’ s regular season. Wow, enjoying the playoffs stress-free, while the Saints got rested and ready made Big Daddy feel more relaxed than Tiger Woods when he travels the world. Hey local golf fans, are you pissed? Tiger’ s doing a sex clinic in Mississippi, but he won’t support the Zurich Classic. The Reverend Al Sharpton hopes there’s no white chicks on staff, otherwise Nike’s golf division will forced to break out the Salt Peter to keep Tiger’s Driver in the bag. One of the things I’ve always wanted to do in my dreams of being an ESPN analyst or sports writer is giving out the end of the season awards. Now, with my world famous blog, I have the medium to express who I think should receive the sought after hardware. Unfortunately the rookies of the year have already been awarded and so has the comeback player of the year. Percy Harvin (my high school teammate), Brian Cushing, and Tom Brady all would have been my choices for their respective awards so it’s good to know that I am already an expert! But in all seriousness, the following analysis will be a mixture of predictions and who I think should get the award. Enjoy!

The Chicago Bears defeated the Detroit Lions 37-23 last Sunday to finish up at 7-9. The win most likely saves head coach Lovie Smith's job. QB Jay Cutler threw for four TD's looking like the QB fans thought he would be. Devin Aramashado scored twice on passes. He should be a featured wide receiver, not Devin Hester. Hester is a valuable player and should be retured to his best position, running back kickoffs and punts.

Saturday night football in the Superdome had every member of the Who Dat Nation dreaming of an undefeated season with the Saints sporting a 13-0 record. Big Daddy’ s experiences have taught him how great expectations in sports can quickly crash and burn. Guiding the team through the emotional rollercoaster of an NFL campaign requires Coach Payton to juggle more than Tiger Woods managing his harem. Perhaps Tiger should make a guest appearance on HBO’ s series about Mormons,

Hello Chargers fan! Loyal dieharders to erratic bandwagoners.. glad you are all on for the ride of this year and many more to come. I believe that as long as Rivers is OUR qaurterback we have a chance to make the Superbowl every year. That is my undying faith to San Diego, but also my belief in Philip Rivers. Props to the coaching staff(somewhat), the O-line, 6'4" recievers and up, and the backfield combo of Sproles and LT. Props to the defense the last couple weeks on creating turnovers, slowing down the run especially without Jamal, and our secondary which has become increasingly better without the pressure that we've put on the opponents QB the last couple years. Major props goto all the back-ups that are just inserted from all our injuries to make great contributions and keeping the team a cohesive "team".

Devin Hester is a player who is not a natural wide receiver. He has learned this highly skilled position while having On The Job Training. Gee, I wish I could do that and make millions. What he is great at is playing on special teams. He has returned a punt for a touchdown this season and needs to focus on what he is good at. The Bears have young and talented wide receivers in Bennett and Johnny Knox. Give them a chance to mature and grow. The way to do that is to let them make catches. Olsen is a talented receiver. He has become a number 2 guy on the depth chart. Put him in situations that will help the team win a game.

This means that the 2009 Breeder Cup Races overall were not successful.
First, the absence of the three greatest trainers meant that they didn't feel they had entries worthy. From my earlier posts, I did warn the public that this meant many of these more common trainers were just there to booze it up and bet other trainers' horses. This is very bad for the industry. It is corrupt.

The Chicago Bears had an easy opponent in the Cleveland Browns, and finished them off 30-6 at Soldier Field on Sunday.
Jay Cutler said that the Bears offense needed to get going after the game. He said the team needed to make "big plays" in their mix. That is true. You can't depend upon a personal foul to get you close to the goal line. The Bears were the beneficiaries of such a penalty and Matt Forte punched it from the one yard line. Forte had 90 yards for the game. Which says, he is a pretty good runner against bad teams. Now, if you put him up against the Ravens, he might get stuffed.

Each horseplayer has to have an edge, which is a secret only he uses. If other people use it, then he gets underlays and not only does he become a loser, but so do the people who steal his picks. In other words, if Joe picks the 3 horse and bets 5 to win, and Jenny decides to do the same, and she tells Fran and Bill, who each tell two friends, and before long Joe's 5 dollars is represented by 300 dollars, since at least one of those friends is an idiot who bets big money, and there are those at the track who simply bet what they see money bet on, and they can easily turn a 28-1 into a 12-1. Joe's available profit turns from 56 dollars (58.00 payoff) to 24.00 (26.00 payoff). He has to hit this twice as often. He plays it because if he wins one time in 30 he comes out ahead. Now one time in 30 puts him behind, because his own friends cut their own throats just to cut his. That's what it amounts to.

The Saints unbelievably exciting come-from-behind victory forces Big Daddy to start working on his Super Bowl Shuffle, preparing for the Black ’n’ Gold’ s next visit to South Beach— in early February. Boy, things looked bleak until Drew Brees’ touchdown just before halftime sparked an amazing turn of events. Having a record of 5-0 following our destruction of the vaunted Giants felt great, but the Saints late afternoon fish fry had Little Havana muttering all sorts of Cuban expletives. The Bears lost a tough game to the Atlanta Falcons, 21-14 Sunday night in Atlanta.
This game reminded me of the Jerry Senfeld comedy show. Nothing happened. The Bears scored in the 4th quarter to tie the game, only to see Atlanta move down the field at will, and score late with just over 3 minutes in the game.

So, the saying goes that college football is only played on Saturdays and any Saturday.. anything can happen. This is not always the case as some physical games occur on Friday nights. Madison.com covered the basics of the story well, but they missed out a few things.. mainly my opinion. For those of you that didn't click on the link, nearly every year for the past 10 the Wisconsin football managers have played the Iowa football managers in a slugfest of a football game. The keys here are that the game is supposed to be: 1. Friendly and 2. Flag-football.

Sunday’s rain showers didn’t slow down Black ’n’ Gold tailgaters readying themselves for battle. Entering the Superdome, Big Daddy encountered Jets fans displaying their typically rude, loud-mouthed New York attitudes, demonstrating why many despise New Yorkers. Cocky Jets fans’ relentless attempts to diminish Who Dat intensity were less effective than the Army Corps’ levees. The Chicago Bears don't know how to win the easy way. Apparently, that is not in their DNA, or at least until Buddy Ryan led the "46" defense. However, this season they have Jay Cutler who threw a late TD pass to converted receiver Devin Hester for 36 yards and the winning touchdown. And, the Bears defense held off Seneca Wallace and the Seahawks to win and go 2-1 for the young season.

I wouldn’t go so far as to call myself a guru or anything, but I am getting pretty good at this fantasy football stuff. I’ve been playing for about the last 6 years and I’ve at least made it to the playoffs in every league I’ve been in. I’ve also won 4 championships. This year I have 4 fantasy teams. I have two in the free NFL.com fantasy and 2 in the Free ESPN league. One of the leagues, “The Thunderk*%&s,” is a little closer to my heart because I’m friends with most of the other owners and there are several bottles of liquor at stake. So far I have been pretty successful in all my leagues and I’m hoping a perfect season in one of the leagues will truly validate my football I.Q. (or at least my almost self-destructive competitiveness). Although I must reemphasize that I am not a fantasy football god or anything, I will be passing on some of my keys to fantasy football success throughout the season. Although for many leagues it is too late to thinking about draft strategy, I have to start at the beginning.

Alright...That's the way to get the season off the ground!!
In the words of Mike Sigletary..."we go in...we hit people in the mouth" And that's what the Niners did today in Arizona. The San Francisco 49ers went in and got things going from the start. Although they struggled on offense today, Hill managed to dig down deep and move the ball when it was needed.

The Cav Report: Dark Days in ‘Hooville
Per request of one of my fellow UVa graduates, future business partner, and one of my best friends, Mr. Heron Mehrehtab, I am providing some analysis on the 2009 Virginia Cavaliers football team. Being a former Cavaliers football player, most would assume that I have an insider’s knowledge of the Cav’s current situation and they would be partly right in that assumption. I have played with many of UVa’s current players and I have played under the tutelage of many of the coaches. But this team is much different from the one that went on to win the 2006 Music City Bowl. This team doesn’t feature the likes of D’Brickishaw Ferguson, Tom Santi, Jon Stupar, Tony Franklin, Marcus Hamilton, Chris Long, Clint Sintim, Ahmad Brooks, Kai Parham, Jason Snelling, Wali Lundy, Cedrick Pearman, Brad Butler, etc. (all recent NFL players for those of you keeping track). However, this team does have some exciting young talent and a coaching staff who tries and often succeeds at preparing their young team for every possible situation. As a player I know that Coach Al Groh stressed the importance of situational football. The question that has to be on Coach Groh’s mind right now is, “How the hell did we get ourselves into this situation?”

The Cardinals continued their dominance of the National League Central this week, going 5-1 on a road trip with a blown save on Sunday, meaning it could've been a 6-0 trip. Last night the Cards got a boost from John Smoltz who was rocky early, giving up three runs in the first two innings, but he stuck with it and shut out the Brewers over the next three innings before turning it over to the bullpen. The Brewers had their chances for a knock out blow, but they couldn't capitalize, just as the Cards couldn't do so with runners in scoring position. When a team goes 0-for-12 with runners in scoring position and can still grind out a win, that's the make of a championship caliber team. Even when they don't play that well, they win.
